The Teen Zone at Hamilton Public Library

The Truth About Forever by Sarah DessenMacy is fine-just-fine while her perfect boyfriend goes to Brain Camp, her sister marries a divorced lawyer, and her mother steadfastly refuses to grieve for Macy’s dead father.  Her mom has thrown herself into running a real estate development company and having a perfect life.  But Macy’s starting to crack around the edges.  She was there when a stranger was doing CPR on her dad after his heart attack in the middle of the street, an incident that Macy feels she should could have prevented if she’d only gotten out of bed five minutes earlier to go running with her father.  Her boyfriend has gotten her a job working at the information desk of the local library (his job while he’s away), but neither of the girls she works with like her very much.  But on the night of one of her mother’s get-togethers for the housing development, Macy stumbles into the kitchen and into the world of Delia’s catering company.  The chaos of the kitchen might be just what Macy needs to shake up her “perfect” life.

Along For The Ride by Sarah DessenAuden has always been the responsible, adult, too-mature-for-her-age one, while her older brother Hollis has always been the childish one.  This summer, Auden plans to escape her mother’s academic circles of graduate student dinners and cocktail receptions, so she heads to Colby and her dad’s beach house.  Her dad and his wife have just had a new baby, so she figures a change of scene and a chance to see her dad would be nice.  While she’s there, she meets Eli, a bike superstar who hasn’t competed in the year since his best friend died.  Eli and Auden become friends over the summer, and he helps her make up for lost time.

Along For The Ride is a quick read, good for summer days at the beach.
